My name is Patrick M McCormick and I have created this blog as a platform for my political views as well as those of select contributors.

I believe that American Politicians have lost sight of their goal: To uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of the people of the United States. They argue and bicker on the floor of their respective houses, positioning themselves for the next election, while they accomplish very little business for the citizens of this country.

Meanwhile our economy is sliding downward. Millions of our precious jobs have have been exported overseas. Our social safety net and other public services are being cut. Our middle class is rapidly disappearing and the numbers of citizens existing below the poverty line is increasing dramatically.

I plan to examine the causes of these terrible changes to our American way of life. Your comments will help us all arrive at some important conclusions.

Personal Information

RB class of 63.
Honorably Discharged SP5 US Army 1969
Grew up to be me.
I like myself a little.
I have 21 year old daughter, I like her a lot.
Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life's School of Hard Knocks.
Wrote my Masters in the Crucible of Pain.

Spent many years contemplating The Sound of One Hand Clapping, a Zen Koan. I came to an acceptable understanding of its meaning in 2001.

That same year, I became the custodial parent of my daughter, Emily, who was twelve at the time.

As far as "Parenting Skills", I did not have a clue.

Personally, I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I have voted for members of both parties and Independent politicians as well. I consider myself a patriot, but I am not a Lemming. I believe the Constitution is a great document when applied equally to all. I speak freely and own a handgun. For me, the separation of Church and State is absolutely necessary for equality. I am naive enough to expect our elected officials to represent the citizens of this country and not special interests or foreign governments.

My Likes and Dislikes

I like Life, little children and the natural beauty of this world. I dislike those that abuse children and despoil nature’s beauty for their own gain; they have similar personalities.

I like the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. I dislike those that would tear out pages they do not agree with and trample the rights of others.

I like everyday people that keep their promises and deadlines and I dislike those that do not.

I like immigrants that come here to work and abide by the rules. I dislike those that come here to commit crimes or live off our good intentions.

I like politicians that serve the interests of the people regardless of politics. I dislike politicians that make promises they do not intend to keep in order to get votes and after the election go into business for themselves at the voters’ expense.

I like technical devices that work long after the warranty expires.

Why Primitive Politics

Everything that our society does today requires lengthy discussion. There are always negotiations, trade offs, bribes, favoritism, nepotism and power plays. That is politics. In the old days, things were simpler; some people even told the truth. Society followed the leader that was right and he actually worked for the best interests of the people. There were no Spin Doctors. It was a simpler, more primitive, time. In this modern world we need to cut through the B.S. and get down to the root cause of things in the news; things that affect our daily lives. Its time for a Primitive approach to the Politics of the land.
